The Story of the Autograph
Rick Wrona is a former catcher who played in the major leagues from 1988 through 1994. During that time he played mostly for the Cubs but also spent time with the Red, White Sox and Brewers.
Wrona was born and raised in Oklahoma and attended Wichita State. The Cubs drafted him in the fifth round of the 1985 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut with them as a September call up on September 3, 1988. During those first years he spent time in the majors with Joe Girardi and Damon Berryhill as all three were back and forth between the majors and the minors.
But Wrona never played a full season in the majors and was a career backup catcher. The most he ever appeared in a season was 38 games in 1989 when he his .283 with two home runs and 14 RBIs. While he played a few games with the Reds, White Sox and Brewers he could never stick in the majors and spent until 1998 hanging around the minors.
The Score on Rick Wrona – 5.0
Rick has a pretty solid signature. The Score card is just so dark thought that it really eats up the signature. Plus there’s a little bit of a smudge on that one too. The best card for me is the 1990 Upper Deck card.
Thanks Mr. Wrona! I’m giving this return a 5.
