The Story of the Autograph
Matt Williams played third base for the Giants, Indians and Diamondbacks. After his playing days he coached for the Diamondbacks and currently the Athletics. He also had a chance to manage with the Nationals.
Matt played from 1987 through 2003 overall, but I remember him best as a Giant (1987 through 1996) where he made the All-Star Game five times. He also won the Silver Slugger award three times, the Gold Glove award three times, led the league in home runs, and led the league in RBI all while in San Francisco.
He was drafted by San Francisco in 1986 and made it to the major in 1987 but at that time he played a lot of shortstop. By 1990 he was the starting third baseman. That year he played in 159 games and led the league in RBI with 122. He also added 33 Homers and batted over .270. That was really the start of some great seasons in San Francisco. He was good enough to be in the top 10 in MVP voting in the NL for three different years including finishing second in 1994 when he led the league in home runs.
From there he had one good season in Cleveland and then some good years in Arizona where he would be part of the team that won the World Series in 2001.

Matt Williams has always been a reliable signer for me. He’s also got a consistent signature. He uses a good pen every time and he has a pretty large signature too. You can see these don’t stray from that description. I think what hurts these are the cards themselves. The best one is the 1992 Topps but it’s also really busy so it makes it hard to make out the signature. The others are dark.
