The Story of the Autograph
Jeremy Bonderman’s journey through Major League Baseball is a testament to early talent, resilience, and the unpredictable nature of a professional sports career.
Born on October 28, 1982, in Kennewick, Washington, Bonderman showcased his pitching prowess at Pasco High School. In an unprecedented move, he earned his GED and petitioned Major League Baseball to become draft-eligible as a junior, making him the only high school junior ever selected in the first round of the MLB Draft. The Oakland Athletics picked him 26th overall in 2001.
Bonderman was traded to the Detroit Tigers in 2002 as part of a three-team deal involving the Yankees and Athletics. He debuted in the majors on April 2, 2003, at just 20 years old. His rookie season was challenging; he posted a 6–19 record as the Tigers endured a 43–119 season.
Over the next few seasons, Bonderman developed into a reliable starter. In 2005, he was named the Tigers’ Opening Day starter, becoming the youngest to hold that honor since Dwight Gooden in 1986. His 2006 season was a highlight, finishing with a 14–8 record and a 4.08 ERA. He played a pivotal role in the Tigers’ postseason run, including a strong performance in the American League Division Series against the Yankees.
Bonderman’s career faced setbacks due to health issues. In 2008, he underwent surgery to remove a blood clot in his axillary vein, causing him to miss most of the season. Shoulder problems in 2009 further limited his play. Despite these challenges, he returned in 2010, starting 29 games and recording an 8–10 record with a 5.53 ERA.
After sitting out the 2011 season, Bonderman signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners in December 2012. He made his first major league appearance in nearly three years on June 2, 2013. Following a brief stint with the Mariners, he returned to the Tigers later that year, transitioning to a bullpen role before becoming a free agent at the season’s end.

The Score on Jeremy Bonderman – 8.0
Jeremy has a nice and big signature. I don’t really know that you can recognize it as his signature. The “J” is pretty clear but the rest of it is bunched up a bid and I don’t know that you can point out a “B”. Not that it appears messy or something, it looks cool.
Thanks Mr. Bonderman! I’m giving this return an 8.
This is my second successful return from him. To see the first return, check out my post from February 2021.
