The Story of the Autograph
Craig Janney was a highly skilled playmaker in the NHL, known for his incredible vision and passing ability. The center played from 1987 to 1999 in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins, St. Louis Blues (twice), San Jose Sharks (twice), Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, New York Islanders, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Born on September 26, 1967, in Hartford, Connecticut, Janney’s hockey journey began at Boston College, where his standout performance led him to be drafted 13th overall by the Boston Bruins in 1986. He quickly made an impact in the NHL, especially with his ability to create scoring opportunities, often setting up his teammates for goals rather than taking the shot himself. He had two consecutive 20 goal seasons in his third and fourth years in the league. But it was really his ability to share the puck where he excelled.
Janney’s NHL career spanned 12 seasons, playing for teams such as the Boston Bruins, St. Louis Blues, and San Jose Sharks, among others. His most productive season came in 1992-93 with the St. Louis Blues, where he posted a career-high 106 points. In that season he had a near career-high 24 goals and a career high 82 assists.
He became known for his chemistry with Brett Hull, contributing significantly to Hull’s goal-scoring success during his time with the Blues. Throughout his career, Janney played in 760 games, accumulating an impressive 751 points (188 goals, 563 assists). He was also part of Team USA in the 1988 Winter Olympics and represented his country in other international competitions, further solidifying his place in American hockey history.
Injuries began to affect Janney towards the latter part of his career, and he retired in 1999. Janney’s legacy as a top-tier playmaker is clear.

I like Craig’s signature a lot. This is another example of a guy with two letters in his name that don’t seem to be the same with that “C” and “J”, but look at the repitition in those letters. That looks so cool to me. Of course it’s hard to sign over hockey card images. I think I like that 1991 Pro Set card though.
