The Story of the Autograph

Larry Krystowiak is a former forward in the NBA. He played from 1986 to 1997 with the San Antonio Spurs, Milwaukee Bucks, Utah Jazz, Orlando Magic, Chicago Bulls, and Los Angeles Lakers. He also played in France and in the G League.

Krystowiak is a native of Montana. He played sports when he was young, but when his dad remarried after his mother passed away his stepmother was not approving of him playing in sports. He moved out at the age of 15 and lived with his brother who became his legal guardian. He went on to play at the University of Montana and still holds school records there. He was named as the Big Sky Conference MVP three times and he had his jersey retired.

In 1986 the Bulls drafted him in the second round of the draft with the 28th overall pick. But he didn’t play with the Bulls as they traded him to Blazers. He wouldn’t play with the Blazers either and two days after the draft he was traded to the Spurs. He played one year in San Antonio and was then traded tot he Bucks. After all that moving he stay with Milwaukee for a few years before moving on to the Jazz in another trade. He would bounce around as a free agent for a bit to end his career.

His was a bench player for the majority of his career. There was one year however that he was much better than the others. In 1988-’89 he got into 80 games with 77 starts. He would have a career high 12.7 points per game that year. In other years he wouldn’t have more than 16 starts.

After playing he went into coaching. He coached in college to start and then moved to the NBA with the Bucks. He would be their head coach in the 2007-’08 season. He would have his most success as a coach and spend significant time in his most recent stint. That was with the University of Utah Utes from 2011 to 2021. He was the Pac-12 Coach of the Year in 2018.

The Score on Larry Krystowiak – 6.5

Larry did a good job on these but the busy nature of the image and a little bit of a fading marker kind of gets in the way. I think the Skybox card just has a better place to sign in general so there’s a bit better place to show off the signature.

Thanks Mr. Krystowiak! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
