The Story of the Autograph

Tim Kerr is a former right winger in the NHL. He played from 1980 to 1993 with the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Rangers, and Hartford Whalers.

Kerr is a native of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The Flyers signed him as an undrafted free agent in 1980 and he would make his debut that season. He started out as both a rough and tough player and a goal scorer but would lean into the offensive side of his game a few years in. Starting in the 1983-84 season he put together a team record four consecutive 50 goal seasons.

The best of those seasons might have been the 1984-85 season when he had a career high 98 points. During the playoffs that same year he score a single game record four goals in 8:16 against the Rangers in the first round. But he always had some injuries and bad luck that would get in his way of really breaking into the upper echelon of players. He would end up with one All-Star nod and the Masterton Trophy for perseverance and dedication to the sport.

He was left exposed in the 1991 expansion draft and claimed by the San Jose Sharks. They would trade him to the Rangers and he would spend a year in New York and a year in Hartford before retiring at age 33.

This is probably one of the best cards I could get Tim to sign. The 1990 Score cards usually provide some of the best images for a signature to fit on and this is a good example of that. I’ll definitely have to find some more cards of his and maybe I can find one of him in a Rangers uniform.

Thanks Mr. Kerr! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
