The Story of the Autograph
David Benoit is a former forward in the NBA. He played from 1991 to 1998 with the Utah Jazz, New Jersey Nets, and Orlando Magic. He also played overseas in Spain, Israel, China, and Japan.
Benoit is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana, as his french last name probably suggests. He wen to college first at Tyler Junior College and later at the University of Alabama. He went undrafted out of college and played in Spain to start his career. He then signed as a free agent with the Jazz the following season.
He played several seasons for the Jazz and had his best season with them in 1994-95 when he averaged a career high 10.4 points with 5.2 rebounds. He was in the Slam Dunk Contest the year prior and finished fourth out of eight participants. He signed with the Nets in 1996 and was out his first season in New Jersey with an injury. He was traded to Orlando and played 24 games there before it being the end of his NBA time.
Benoit went on to more overseas worked in several places. One of those was in China where he was part of a Chinese Basketball Association championship in 2002 with the Shanghai Sharks.

David did a whole mix of things on this return. He personalized one with a “Best Wishes” message. Then he just simply has his stacked signature and number on the others. It’s kind of hard to tell though because the other two cards, Wild Card and Topps, are so dark in the background. Maybe that’s why he personalized the Upper Deck card, because you can see it.
