The Story of the Autograph
Eric Gunderson is a former left-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played for the San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays from 1990 to 2000.
Gunderson is a native of Oregon. He went to college at Portland State and was then drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the second round of the 1987 MLB Draft. He debuted with the Giants three years later on April 11, 1990. He was mostly in the minors for the first several years of his career. It wasn’t until 1995 when he pitched for the Mets and Red Sox that he played in more than 15 games.
Then from 1996 to 1998 he played in at least 28 games with a career high of 68 games in 1998. He bounced around quite a lot and spent the most time, three seasons, with the Rangers from 1997 to 1999. He played his final major league game on May 17, 2000.
The Score on Eric Gunderson – 7.5
I think Eric has quite a fun signature. Most of these cards do a pretty good job of showing it off, but none better than the 1990 Upper Deck card. The capital “G” he does looks a lot like a “6” and I don’t think I can remember anyone really doing it like that. For some reason his signature kind of reminds me of Frank Schultz’ (Peanuts) signature, in my mind. I went and looked at it though and it didn’t really look like it at all.
Thanks Mr. Gunderson! I’m giving this return a 7.5.
