The Story of the Autograph
Orlando Mercado is a former catcher in the major leagues. He played from 1982 to 1990 with the Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland Athletics, Minnesota Twins, New York Mets, and Montreal Expos.
Mercado is a native of Puerto Rico. The Mariners signed him as an amateur free agent in 1978. Four years later he made his major league debut for the them on September 13, 1982. He spent the most time with the Mariners as he was with them for three seasons from 1982 to 1985. His most significant time in the majors was with them in 1983 when he played in 66 games.
After Seattle he was out of the majors in 1986 and was traded and signed by different teams until he ended his career. He was a typical light hitting catcher and had a .199 lifetime average and seven career homers.
In more recent years he’s coached with the Los Angeles Angels.
The Score on Orlando Mercado – 5.5
This is a bit of good and bad from Orlando. The marker is great. It’s solid and super dark on these cards. But in the end, he doesn’t put much on the card to judge. That said, you can see it well and it’s ink on a card which tends to be good with me!
Thanks Mr. Mercado! I’m giving this return a 5.5.
