The Story of the Autograph

Josh Fogg is a former right-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 2001 to 2008 with the Chicago White Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies (twice), and Cincinnati Reds.

Fogg was born in Massachusetts and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He went on to attend the University of Florida and play baseball for the Gators from 1995 to 1998. The White Sox drafted him in the 3rd round of the 1998 MLB Draft and he made his major league debut for them three years later on September 2, 2001.

After the 2001 season he was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates along with Sean Low and Kip Wells for Lee Evans and Todd Ritchie. He spent the next four seasons with the Pirates which is the most with any team in his career. Aside from his final year in Pittsburgh he was pretty much a .500 pitcher for the team. He would have a 39-42 record with them overall and a 4.79 ERA during his time there.

He moved on to Colorado as a free agent going into the 2006 season and spent the next couple years in Colorado. He picked up the nickname “Dragon Slayer” for having a knack for beating aces on other teams. This was where he found his greatest team success as the Rockies reached the World Series in 2007. He pitched well in those playoffs. But while Josh was able to make an appearance in the Series he didn’t fare well. He lasted 2.2 innings and gave up six runs on ten hits for a 20.25 ERA.

He later moved on to Cincinnati as a free agent and then back to Colorado for his final appearance in the majors in 2009. Time with the Mets and Phillies after that didn’t result in another trip to the majors.

The Score on Josh Fogg – 6.5

Josh’s signature came out really well on these. I’ve had some bad experiences with this era of Upper Deck cards as they usually get smeared easily or the ink just bubbles up on the cards. I would imagine that’s from the gloss they have on them. The MVP card came out really well. I need to see if I can find a card with him as a Rockie to expand that part of my collection.

Thanks Mr. Fogg! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
