The Story of the Autograph

Rob Andrews is a former second baseman who played in the major leagues from 1975 to 1979. During his career he played for the Houston Astros and San Francisco Giants.

Andrews was born and raised in Southern California. He was drafted out of high school by the Baltimore Orioles in the tenth round of the 1970 MLB Draft. Before he could make his first appearance with them he was traded to the Houston Astros in 1974. He made his major league debut with the Astros the next year on April 7, 1975.

In the first two years of his career with the Astros he played in 212 games and hit .249 with no homers, 42 RBI, and 19 stolen bases. He was traded to the Giants before the 1977 season. He got the best shot at playing in the ’77 when the Giants had him appear in 127 games. He wouldn’t play more than 79 games in the two seasons following that, but did hit his only three career homers in those years.

The Giants released him in 1979 and he signed with the Mets in 1980 but never appeared in another major league game.

The Score on Rob Andrews – 6.0

Rob has a pretty standard signature with small zig-zags to close it out. Kind of an “arrow point” signature because you could probably fit this in a small triangle. I think the 1979 card was the best to take the signature and show it off a litte.

Thanks Mr. Andrews! I’m giving this return a 6.
