The Story of the Autograph

Tony Muser is a former player in the major leagues who mostly played first base. He played in nine seasons from 1969 to 1978 with the Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, and Milwaukee Brewers.

Muser was born and raised in Southern California. He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the third round of the 1966 MLB Draft out of San Diego Mesa College, but did not sign. Before the next season he signed an amateur free agent contract with the Boston Red Sox. He made his major league debut on September 14, 1969. He only made it into two games that season and went down to the minors again.

Before the 1971 season he was traded to the White Sox. The first two year while with that organization he still was up and down to the minors and then in 1973 he got a bit more of a shot. In 1973 through 1975 he played in over 100 games, the last of those seasons was split between the White Sox and the Orioles.

Almost immediately after his playing days he went into coaching. He starting with the Brewers minor league system after playing with them in his final season. He made it as a major league manager in 1997 when he was with the Kansas City Royals until 2002. Unfortunately his best record was 77-85 in 2000.

The Score on Tony Muser – 6.5

Tony has a pretty straightforward signature. I was glad to get him on an Orioles card because I’ve been getting so many of them lately. But really I didn’t have that much of a choice because it’s the only double I had of his to send.

Thanks Mr. Muser! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
