The Story of the Autograph

Tim McIntosh, born on March 21, 1965, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a former professional baseball player whose career spanned Major League Baseball (MLB), Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), and later roles in scouting and real estate.

Growing up in Minnesota, McIntosh developed a passion for baseball at a young age. He attended Hopkins High School, where his talent on the field became evident. His performance earned him a spot at the University of Minnesota, where he played collegiate baseball for the Golden Gophers. During the summer of 1986, McIntosh showcased his skills in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Chatham A’s, leading the league with a remarkable .392 batting average. This outstanding performance led to his induction into the Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame in 2017.

In the 1986 MLB Draft, the Milwaukee Brewers selected McIntosh in the third round. He made his MLB debut on September 3, 1990, against the Minnesota Twins. Over the next few years, McIntosh played as a catcher, left fielder, and first baseman for the Brewers, appearing in 48 major league games and recording a .204 batting average with two home runs and eight RBIs.

In 1993, McIntosh had a brief stint with the Montreal Expos. Seeking new opportunities, he ventured to Japan in 1995 to play for the Nippon Ham Fighters in the NPB, where he continued to demonstrate his versatility on the field. He returned to the MLB in 1996, joining the New York Yankees and being part of the roster during their World Series-winning season.

After retiring from professional play in 1999, McIntosh transitioned into scouting, leveraging his on-field experience to identify and develop new talent. He served as a professional scout for the Los Angeles Angels, contributing to the organization’s player development efforts.

Beyond baseball, McIntosh explored various ventures, including commercial real estate and winemaking. Eventually, he returned to his roots in Minnesota, where he embarked on a career as a realtor. His diverse professional journey reflects a commitment to growth and adaptation, both on and off the field.

McIntosh’s personal life is marked by his dedication to family and community. He raised two daughters, both of whom reside in San Diego. His return to Minnesota signifies a full-circle moment, reconnecting with the community that fostered his early love for baseball.

Tim McIntosh’s multifaceted career in baseball (as a player, scout, and mentor) combined with his ventures beyond the sport, underscores a life dedicated to passion, resilience, and continuous evolution.

I’m not sure if there’s many more cards for me cards for me to get signed from Tim. You can see that he’s really generous and signs pretty much anything that you send him. These all look pretty good. The first return has a bit of a marker issue. But the other returns have a great blue marker that goes really well with those Brewers’ (and even the Zephyrs’) uniforms.

Thanks Mr. McIntosh! I’m giving this return a 6 overall.

These aren’t my first returns from him. To see the first successful return from him, check out my post from March 2023.
