The Story of the Autograph

Terry Jorgensen is a former infielder in the major leagues. He played from 1989 to 1993 with the Minnesota Twins.

Jorgensen was born on August 30, 1966, in Kewaunee, Wisconsin, a small town nestled along the shores of Lake Michigan. He attended Luxemburg-Casco High School, where he was a multi-sport athlete, excelling not only in baseball but also in basketball. His athletic abilities earned him a scholarship to the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh, where he continued to shine on the baseball diamond. At UW-Oshkosh, Jorgensen was a key player for the Titans, leading them to an NCAA Division III National Championship in 1985. His performance caught the attention of Major League scouts, and in 1987, Jorgensen was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the second round of the MLB Draft.

His transition to professional baseball was marked by the usual challenges faced by young players. He spent several years working his way through the Twins’ minor league system, showcasing his skills as a reliable infielder with a strong bat. His versatility allowed him to play multiple positions, primarily third base, which made him a valuable asset to the organization. In 1989, Jorgensen’s hard work paid off when he was called up to the Major Leagues for the first time. He made his debut with the Minnesota Twins on July 7, 1989, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Over the next few years, Jorgensen would move between the majors and minors, fighting to secure a permanent spot on the Twins’ roster.

Jorgensen’s time in the Major Leagues was brief, spanning parts of three seasons from 1989 to 1993. During this period, he played in 78 games, primarily as a third baseman. While he never became a regular starter, Jorgensen made the most of his opportunities, batting .240 with 2 home runs and 17 RBIs over his MLB career. One of his most memorable moments came on July 9, 1993, when he hit his first career home run, a highlight that stood out in his otherwise modest big league career. Although Jorgensen’s time with the Twins was short, he left a lasting impression as a player who worked hard, stayed ready, and always gave his best when called upon.

After retiring from professional baseball, Terry Jorgensen returned to Wisconsin, where he continued to contribute to the game in new ways. He became deeply involved in youth baseball, using his experience to coach and mentor young players in his hometown of Luxemburg. Jorgensen also joined the coaching staff at his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh, where he served as an assistant coach. His knowledge of the game and passion for teaching made him a beloved figure among players and students alike. In addition to coaching, Jorgensen remained active in his community.

The Score on Terry Jorgensen – 7.5

Terry has a sort of standard style of signature. It’s one that I would refer to as a signature rather than an autograph. I feel like an autograph has a little more to it than just a signature you would put on the bottom of a form, for instance. But either way, this is a good one from Terry. I especially like the 1993 Upper Deck cards because they show off the signature well.

Thanks Mr. Jorgensen! I’m giving this return a 7.5.
