The Story of the Autograph
Terry Bross is a former right-handed relief pitcher in the major leagues. He played in the 1991 and 1993 seasons, the first with the New York Mets and the second with the San Francisco Giants. He later played in Japan through 1999.
Bross was born in El Paso, Texas, but he grew up in New Jersey. He went to St. John’s University, playing as a center for a team that won a Big East championship and made a Final Four appearance, in addition to pitching for another Big East championship team. He was drafted by the Mets in the 1987 MLB Draft in the thirteenth round. After several years in the minors, he made his major league debut on September 4, 1991.
He played in eight games to close out the 1991 season and put up a 1.80 ERA. But he would appear again for two more years, and not with the Mets. The Mets traded him to the Padres, who traded him to Texas, who released him. He ended up signing with the Giants and played his final two MLB games with them in 1993. He tried to make it with the Cubs in 1994, but never appeared again.
Instead, in 1995 Bross headed to Japan and played first for the Yakult Swallos and then in 1998 and 1999 for the Seibu Lions. He led the league in ERA in 1995 and pitched a no-hitter that same year.
The Score on Terry Bross – 6.5
Terry has a pretty simple signature. It looks like he puts most of the work into his first name, not that he puts a whole lot into any of it because it’s mostly zig zagged. It look like the marker is slightly week on the Upper Deck and 1991 Donruss cards. The 1990 Donruss cards came out the best.
Thanks Mr. Bross! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
