The Story of the Autograph

Taylor Jungmann is a former right-handed starting pitcher in the major leagues and Japan. He played from 2015 to 2017 with the Milwaukee Brewers and then from 2018 to 2019 with the Yomiuri Giants.

Jungmann is a Texas native. In high school he helped his team to win the Texas 2Z State Championship in 2007. He went on to play for the Texas Longhorns including playing for the 2009 College World Series title. In 2011 he won the Dick Howser Trophy for the best college baseball player. The Brewers then drafted him in the first round of the 2011 MLB Draft with the twelfth overall pick.

After several years in the minors, he made his major league debut on June 9, 2015. He went on to have a pretty good rookie campaign going 9-8 with a 3.77 ERA in 21 games, all starts. Unfortunately he failed to get back to that level. In 2016 he went 0-5 in six starts and eight overall appearances with a 7.76 ERA and then finally a 13.50 ERA in 2017. The Brewers released before the next season.

Jungmann decided to head to Japan and signed deals the next two seasons with them. In February of 2020 he signed a minor league deal with he Rangers but was released in June. In July of 2020 he played for the Sugar Land Skeeters in their small pandemic league that year.

Taylor was one of those guys I was planning to send to, but then trying to figure out if I had more cards for him to put in the envelope. I think I got to a bunch of guys that I had one card for and sent them out around the same time. This card provides just a about a perfect place for him to sign and he picked the right spot.

Thanks Mr. Jungmann! I’m giving this return a 7.
