The Story of the Autograph

Sean Thomas Casey, affectionately known as “The Mayor” is celebrated for his impressive Major League Baseball (MLB) career and his engaging personality both on and off the field.

Born on July 2, 1974, in Willingboro, New Jersey, Casey grew up in Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania. He honed his baseball skills at Upper St. Clair High School before attending the University of Richmond. At Richmond, Casey’s exceptional performance earned him a spot in the university’s Athletics Hall of Fame.

Casey was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the second round of the 1995 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut on September 12, 1997. In 1998, he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds, where he spent eight seasons and became a fan favorite. During his tenure with the Reds, Casey was a three-time National League All-Star (1999, 2001, 2004) and achieved a career batting average of .302. He also played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Detroit Tigers, and Boston Red Sox before retiring.

After retiring from professional play, Casey transitioned into broadcasting. He has been a commentator for MLB Network, sharing his insights and passion for the game with fans nationwide.

Off the field, Casey is known for his charitable endeavors. He co-founded Casey’s Clubhouse, an organization dedicated to building an inclusive play environment for children of all abilities. In his personal life, Casey is married to Sarah, and together they have four children: Andrew, Jake, Carli, and Jillian.

Sean Casey’s legacy in baseball is marked not only by his on-field achievements but also by his genuine connection with fans and commitment to community service.

Sean did a great job on these cards, but there is one that got smudged pretty well. I think my favorite of these is the Topps Stadium Club card because I love those old Reds uniforms with the red sleeves. I think Sean charges these days though so definitely check that before you send him something.
