The Story of the Autograph
Scott Ruskin is a former left-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1990 to 1993 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Montreal Expos, and Cincinnati Reds.
Ruskin was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. He went on to play at the University of Florida from 1982 to 1985. He earned All-SEC honors in 1984 and 1985 and was second-team All-American in 1984. He was actually drafted several times before signing with the Pirates after being drafted in the third round of the 1986 MLB Draft.
He spent several years in the minors with the Pirates and debuted on April 9, 1990. He played pretty well but didn’t make it through the season with them. He was traded to the Expos with others in a deal for Zane Smith (the player to be named later that went to the Pirates ended up being Moises Alou).
After the 1991 season the Expos then traded him with Willie Greene (another player they got from the Pirates in the Zane Smith trade) and Dave Martinez for Bill Risley and John Wetteland. He played two seasons with the Reds and made his last major league appearance with them in 1993. He tried to make it back with the Royals but never got back to the bigs.
The Score on Scott Ruskin – 6.5
Scott has a sort of disjointed signature. There appear to be little marks all over the place to make out his name. I don’t say that to knock it though. That’s what adds character and makes his signature interesting. I also like how his “S” and “R” kind of go with each other in style and compliment each other. That’s shown off even more by the way he stacks his signature.
Thanks Mr. Ruskin! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
