The Story of the Autograph

Scott Kamieniecki is a former right-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He worked as a starter and a reliever during a 10 year career that lasted from 1991 to 2000. He played for the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians, and Atlanta Braves.

Kamieniecki was born and raised in Michigan. He spent four years playing for the Michigan Wolverines in college. During that time, and back in high school, he was drafted three times before signing a major league contract: by the Tigers in the second round of the 1982 MLB Draft, by the Brewers in the 23rd round of the MLB Draft, and then finally by the Yankees in the 14th round of the 1986 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut for the Yankees on June 18, 1991.

Through the first part of his career he worked as a starter. This covered his time with the Yankees and the first two years with the Orioles. His best records during that time were 10-7 in 1993 and 10-6 in 1997. After 1998 he was almost completely a reliever. For his career he had a 53-59 record with a 4.52 ERA.

Scott has a long enough name that it shouldn’t be too tough for him to fill up your card with some ink. He has a lot of letters condensed into the front of his signature and then spreads it out at the end and has that little flourish which I think is for the “k.” Overall I like it but I think it’s just tough to see on a couple of these cards. The 1992 Topps card is pretty sweet though.

Thanks Mr. Kamieniecki! I’m giving this return a 7 overall.
