The Story of the Autograph
Russ Davis is a former major league third baseman. He played from 1994 to 2001 with three teams: New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners, and San Francisco Giants.
Davis is a native of Alabama. He played as a shortstop in high school and wasn’t very big. He went to Shelton State Community College and had a great year in 1988. Good enough that the Yankees drafted him in the 29th round of the 1988 MLB Draft. After several years in the minors he debuted on July 6, 1994.
He played in just two seasons in New York in a total of 44 games. Then he was traded after the 1995 season with Sterling Hitchcock to the Mariners for Tino Martinez, Jim Mecir and Jeff Nelson. Two of those were big parts of Yankee championships. After breaking his leg in his first season in Seattle, he would have some very good years with the Mariners from 1997 to 1999. His best of those seasons was 1999 when he hit .259 with 20 homers and 82 RBI.
He moved on to San Francisco as a free agent and played for two more seasons, but not with the same playing time he had in Seattle.
The Score on Russ Davis – 7.0
Russ doesn’t have two much of a signature. It’s mostly his initials and then some really small lines/letters for the rest of it. What I find most interesting is that its a stacked signature but that normally means that the first name is more to the left then the last name. In his case his last name on the bottom is more left aligned.
Thanks Mr. Davis! I’m giving this return a 7 overall.
