The Story of the Autograph
Rob Blake is a former defenseman in the NHL. The Hall of Famer played for the Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks from 1989 to 2010.
Blake is a native of Ontario, Canada. He went to Bowling Green and played his college hockey there. He was the leagues first ever Best Offensive Defenseman and skipped his senior season. The Kings drafted him in the 1988 NHL Draft and he would immediately play in the last four games of that season. The following season he would put of 46 points on route to being named to the NHL’s All-Rookie Team.
He had several great seasons in Los Angeles including helping them to the 1993 Stanley Cub Finals. Unfortunately they were beaten by the Montreal Canadiens. The following season he would post his career high in points with 68. After a couple years of dealing with injuris he was back in 1997-’98, proving that by becoming a Norris Trophy winner.
He was traded to the Avalanche in 2001 when he was on the verge of becoming an unrestricted free agent. He made an immediate impact and helped this team with the Stanly Cup that season. After several great seasons he went back to Los Angeles and then so San Jose where he would finish his career as their captain.
After playing he worked with the NHL as their hockey operations manager. He would later work in the front office for the Kings and their minor league affiliates. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2014.

Rob has a very bubbly signature. I think you can see it best on the 1991 Bowman card. That’s not my favorite card of the bunch, that would go to the 1990 Upper Deck card. But it’s the one that shows off his signature best. The 1991 Pro Set card on the other hand is a little tough. It’s always nice to get one back from a Hall of Famer.
