The Story of the Autograph
RJ Reynolds is a former outfielder in the major leagues. He played in eight seasons between 1983 to 1990 for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates. He also played in Japan from 1991 to 1993 with the Yokahama Taiyo Whales and the Kintetsu Buffaloes.
Reynolds is a native of Sacramento, California. He went to Sacramento City College where he was drafted by the Dodgers in 1980 in the second round of the MLB Draft. He made his major league debut for them just three years later on September 1, 1983. He played 24 games to close that first season and his playing time grew in the next two years. The Dodgers then traded him tot he Pirates as a player to be named later in the deal that send Bill Madlock to L.A..
Reynolds would be an every day player in Pittsburgh from 1986 to 1989. His best seasons were 1986 when he hit .269 with nine homers and 48 RBI, and 1989 when he his .270 with six homers, 48 RBI and a career high 22 stolen bases. The Pirates did not resign him after the 1990 season and he moved on to Japan for three seasons before retiring.
The Score on RJ Reynolds – 7.0
This was a total flyer. I think I saw someone get a return from RJ and I found the address on SCF and decided to give it a shot. I which I found some cards that would show off his signature better though. I probably didn’t have many of his cards handy for TTMs though so this might have been things I knew I could pull quickly. I think my favorite is the 1989 Upper Deck card.
Thanks Mr. Reynolds! I’m giving this return a 7 overall.
