There was a card show this weekend that was very nice. It wasn’t the biggest card show, which maybe was a good thing. But it was put on by a group that does a lot of shows and this one seemed to be the closest one to put on where I live. It was definitely a good vibe. But I’ll save some of the review for a hopeful post later in the week.
The best part was that I went with Sean (@seanssportscards on Instagram and @sthvt on Twitter) who is a neighbor of mine. It was nice to go with someone who really enjoys cards and collects rather than with someone I am just dragging along. If you don’t follow Sean on Instagram you should, if not for anything other than “Resting Pitch Face” posts.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
The Review
Here’s what happened on the blog last week:
- Monday: Wayne Gandy
- Tuesday: Isaiah Rider, Pete Chilcutt
- Wednesday: Terrell Brandon
- Thursday: Sister Mary Jo Sobieck, Scot Pollard
- Friday: Stanley Roberts
- Saturday: David Klingler
- Sunday: Mark Bruener
This week feature the #backtoschool theme. I know everyone goes to school at a different time these days, but this was the week that my kids went back. So I figured what better way to celebrate that than digging through the backlog for some cards that featured players in college. Of course there was a slightly different coach with a Sister who was a school teacher. And I stretched it a little bit with Mark Bruener as I would classify him as a Steelers card, but it was fun to put together and I hope you enjoyed it.
The Preview

- Wednesday: Pat on the back…
- Thursday: In the Roenick of time…
- Friday: Everyone has their Karkovices…
- Saturday: BobwitdaBob…
- Sunday: Chvrches…
Back to a regular week before we move into another themed week next week. I think I am going to try to sneak in a little bit of a theme on the #twofortuesday posts though… It’s going to be “Red” and I’ll leave it at that. But for the most part we are getting through the oldest stuff on my list.
Other Notes
It was another successful week of returns. I got eighteen back and didn’t have any failures this week. One of the themes from this week was that I got a lot back from guys I sent to via the team. And that was really for different reasons like Brad Boxberger (current player), Brad Park (Alumni Association), Stump Mitchell (coach) and others. But I think my favorite of those was Rick Nash.
No true stragglers this week as Ryan Dempster was my longest and that was out for 165 days. There were only two others over 100 days out. I did get one paid return back from John Candelaria too.
The new Recent TTM Success is updated.
Have a great week!
