Well, my brackets might be busted, but as always I’m having a good time. There’s been some really good games going on, a few upsets, a few one-sided affairs, but overall another good opening first weekend to an NCAA tournament so far.
Even in the one-sided games it’s really nice to see teams play at a super high level. The Gonzaga v. Kansas game yesterday was a good example. That was a pretty good first half, but the way that Gonzaga played in the second half was absolutely amazing. They just completely dismantled Kansas. It’s too bad that Kansas didn’t have their best player though because that would have made it a game.
And those games last night going to overtime and some other close games. As someone who hasn’t been able to pay too much attention during the year, its those types of games that make it fun no matter who is playing.
Here’s hoping this trend continues through the rest of the tournament.
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and has a great week!
The Review
Here’s what happened on the blog last week:
- Monday: Tippy Martinez
- Tuesday: David Hulse, Dennis Eckersley
- Wednesday: Mark Thompson
- Thursday: Chris Bando
- Friday: Thad Bosley
- Saturday: Ken Schrom
- Sunday: Grant Ledyard
There wasn’t a theme to the #twofortuesday last week and it was a week dominated by baseball. That was after a pretty eclectic week before it.
The Preview
Here’s what I have coming up for this week:
- Monday: Mack the knife…
- Tuesday: Reardon Admiral…
- Tuesday: Teach me how to Dougie…
- Wednesday: Beers anyone…?
- Thursday: Car Keenan…
- Friday: Guns of the Navarro-one…
- Saturday: Lind chocolates…
- Sunday: David spa…
I’m going back to my favorite baseball team for the #twofortuesday this week. It seems a couple of Mets have come up in the backlog, like they tend to do.
Other Notes
This was an OK week. I had eighteen total returns come back. Unfortunately I received another two failures. I think I am getting to the point in rounds of me sending things out where I am taking a few more chances than I normally do. That’s usually a sign of me needing to go back through my doubles for new names and refresh some of what are pending attempts for me. I need to take some PTO from work coming up so maybe that will be in the cards soon.
Other than that there were two things of note. First, the only straggler I had this week was from Danny Ferry who returned one back to me after 248 days out. Other than that the oldest was 67 days out, so pretty recent.
The other news is I got a paid return back from Steve Carlton. Of course I don’t usually get damaged cards, but this was bad news. The cards and envelope came back pretty damaged. Still a success, but they definitely are worse for the wear. It rarely happens with my PWEs but it finally bit me. It is odd that lately I have seen some more things like that. I’ve gotten more of the “We Care” envelopes and bags lately and the envelopes are cut or ripped, etc.. I think I’ve received at least two empty returns in the last few weeks. Not sure what is going on at the various stops with the USPS.
The Recent TTM Success page will be updated next weekend.
Have a great week!
