The Story of the Autograph
Nate Schierholtz is a former outfielder in the major leagues. His eight-year career spanned from 2007 to 2014. During that time he played for the San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals. He also played in Japan with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in 2015.
Schierholtz was born in Reno, Nevada but went to high school in California. He then went on to Chabot College for just one season. The Giants drafted him with a second round pick in the 2003 MLB Draft. After several years in the minors he made his major league debut on June 11, 2007.
He got his first significant playing time in 2009 when he appeared in 116 games. He would play just about that amount of games or more for the giants in the next three seasons. That included being part of their 2010 World Series winning team, playing in 137 games that season and hitting .242 with three homers and 17 RBI. He would end up leaving San Francisco with Tommy Joseph and Seth Rosin in the trade that brought Hunter Pence to the Giants.
The rest of his career he would move about via free agency. He got a really good shot with the Cubs in 2013 in what was definitely his best season. That year he hit .251 with career highs in homers (21) and RBI (68) in 137 games.
The Score on Nate Schierholtz – 6.5
I think if I was going to get Nate to sign any cards, it would have to be with him as a Giant and a Cub. That said, I am not sure if there are cards of him in other uniforms given the limited amount of time he played with other clubs. But having cards of him with the team he won a World Series with and the team he had his best season with is nice. I love that 2013 Topps card as the marker looks awesome with that Cubs uniform.
Thanks Mr. Schierholtz! I’m giving this return a 6.5 overall.
