The Story of the Autograph
Mike Johnson is a former linebacker in the USFL and NFL. He played from 1084 through 1995 with the Philadelphia/Baltimore Stars in the USFL and the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions in the NFL.
Johnson was born in North Carolina and went to high school at DeMatha Catholic in Maryland. After high school he attended Virginia Tech and played on a defense with Bruce Smith. They only made it to one bowl game but put up a 31-14 record while he was in school.
Out of college he went into the USFL after the Browns had chosen him the the 1984 Supplemental Draft for USFL and CFL Players. But he didn’t appear in the NFL until 1986 because of the time he spent in the NFL. He started off well in the NFL, but it in 1989 the Browns switched to a 4-3 defense and Johnson made two consecutive Pro Bowls playing as their middle linebacker.
He intercepted 13 passes during his career with a career high of three in 1989. He took two of those back for touchdowns. He topped 100 tackles seven of the 10 years he spent in the league and 175+ in 1992 and 1993 to finish his career in Cleveland.
The Score on Mike Johnson – 5.5
Mike has a solid signature, but as I usually say for the football cards, it’s so hard to get a good one signed. These are just so busy. I love the picture in the 1991 Pacific card, but I never like that design. I think the best one of these is the 1991 Pro Set Platinum card.
Thanks Mr. Johnson! I’m giving this return a 5.5.
