The Story of the Autograph
Kevin Mack played as a running back in the USFL and the NFL for 10 years. He grew up in North Carolina and played collegiately at Clemson University. After Clemson he was drafted by the Los Angeles Express of the USFL in 1984. Then he was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the 1984 Supplemental Draft for USFL and CFL players.
Mack had a great start to his NFL career. In his rookie season he rushed for 1,104 yards and scored 7 touchdowns. In that same year, Earnest Byner rushed for 1,001 yards and they became the third pair of teammates to run for 1,00 yards in the same season. While he played in 16 games that first season with 15 starts, he would never start more than 12 games in a season except for his 14 in the 1990 season.
Not playing full years definitely shorted him a few 1,000 yard seasons. He wouldn’t reach the 1,000 mark again in a season, but with 700+ in 1987, 1990 and 1991, he could have been close to at least one more. That said, Kevin did manage to average 4.0 yards per carry for his career. He also score 46 touchdowns for his career with a high of 10 in 1986. He was selected to the Pro Bowl twice in his career.
He also possessed possibly the most obvious nickname ever – “Mack Truck.”
The Score on Kevin Mack – 6.5
Kevin has a pretty good signature. I think with some better cards that give him some better places to sign these would be great. Some of them have a little bit of rub on them, but not too much. He used a pretty good marker on them too. What I like about them that I’ve been noticing some others don’t do is that he pretty much centers up that signature pretty well.
Thanks Mr. Mack! These get a 6.5.
