The Story of the Autograph

Keith Miller is a former major league infielder and outfielder who played for the New York Mets and the Kansas City Royals. His career lasted nine seasons from 1987 through 1995.

Miller was born and raised in Michigan. He was originally drafted out of high school by the Cleveland Indians in the 24th round of the 1981 MLB Draft but chose not to sign. He went on to attend Oral Roberts university. Then in 1984 he was drafted by the Yankees in the second round of the 1984 MLB Draft. He never played with the Yankees though either and signed with the Mets as an amateur free agent in September of 1984.

After a few years in the minors he made his major league debut on June 16, 1987. He would play in 25 games and hit .373 in 51 at bats that year. The Mets, and later the Royals would use him as a utility player. His only time breaking 100 games in a season was in 1992 in his first year with the Royals. Obviously more games brings more production and he set or tied career marks for homers (4), doubles (24), triples (4), RBI (38), and stolen bases (16). He also hit .284 for the year in 400+ at bats.

After his playing career he became an agent for Scott Rolen, Brandon Inge, and fellow Met David Wright.

Keith has a pretty tight signature without too much fluff. There is that little loop to the beginning of his “M” though that makes things interesting. He also ends up doing his “K” in different ways as well. You can definitely see the action in his signature.

Thanks Mr. Miller! I’m giving this return a 7.
