The Story of the Autograph
Karl Mecklenburg was a linebacker in the NFL for 12 years. He spent his entire career with the Denver Broncos. After going to Minnesota he was drafted in the 12th round of the 1983 Draft. He was the 310th overall pick, but these days the NFL draft is almost half as long as the draft was back then. But that didn’t stop Karl from being one of the most important defensive pieces of the Broncos teams that went to a bunch of Super Bowls in the 80’s.
He played in six Pro Bowls, was a first team All-Pro four times, and his 79.5 sacks is the second highest total in franchise history. He is one of only three Broncos to ever have four sacks in a game and is the only one to do it twice. The Broncos made him a member of their Ring of Honor in 2001. But if you were a kind back then, you also remembered him as part of games like Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl.
Karl does a lot of charity work these days as well as some motivational speaking.
The Score on Karl Mecklenburg – 5.0
Karl has a bit of a shaky signature. It doesn’t surprise me though. After having so many years of playing in the NFL I would bet that his hands took a beating. I like the way he circles the bible verse with his last name. He definitely does his best to give it some style.
Thanks Mr. Mecklenburg! I’m giving these a 5.
