The Story of the Autograph
Joe Zdeb is a former outfielder in the major leagues. He played for the Kansas City Royals from 1977 to 1979.
Zdeb is from Illinois. He played both baseball and football in high school and signed a letter of intent to play football at the University of Missouri. Then he was drafted out of high school by the Royals in the fourth round of the 1971 MLB Draft. So he chose to become a professional baseball player.
After six years in the minor leagues he made his major league debut on April 7, 1977. He got his best shot at playing in his rookie season when he played in 105 games. That year he hit .297 with the only two homers of his career and 23 RBI. In the next two years his playing time declined, only making it into 60 games and then 15 and bouncing up and down to the minors.
In 1980 he was traded to the White Sox but never appeared in a major league game for them. He also got time with the Mets organization with the Tidewater Tides. He struggled to hit and was out of baseball.
The Score on Joe Zdeb – 5.0
This mainly gets a lower score from Joe just because of the ball point pen. Not that many guys sign with it but I don’t tend to grade things very highly when that type of pen is used. This one does at least show it off a little better since his jersey is so light and bright to sign over.
Thanks Mr. Zdeb! I’m giving this return a 5.
