The Story of the Autograph
Joe Kleine is a former center in the National Basketball League. He played from 1985 to 2000 with the Sacramento Kings, Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns (twice), Los Angeles Lakers, New Jersey Nets, Chicago Bulls, and Portland Trailblazers.
Kleine was born in Colorado but during his high school years his family lived in Missouri. He went on to attend the University of Notre Dame but only for his freshman season. He then moved on the the University of Arkansas and played alongside some other future pros. Those Razorback teams but up some good records and Kleine played against guys like Hakeem Olajuwon. Maybe the greatest thing they did was beat the number one ranked, Michael Jordan-led UNC Tar Heels in February of 1984. He was also part of the 1984 U.S. Olympic team that won gold in the Los Angeles Games.
The Kings selected him with the sixth pick of the 1985 NBA Draft. He was never really a star player and pretty much was a back-up center. He did get in a career high 60 games and averaged a career high 24+ minutes in 1987-88, but he only averaged 20+ minutes twice in his career, both times in his first three years in the league. He moved on to the Celtics where he spent a majority of his career but unfortunately for him, not with them for any of their championships. He did get to play with the Bulls and win a championship with them in 1998.
After basketball he coached in high school and for AAU teams and then as an assistant with Arkansas. He also worked as an analysts on the college broadcasts there for a time.

Joe signed with a pretty good marker. It’s really dark and think and sticks out on these cards really well despite them being really dark. I think my favorite is the 1989 NBA Hoops card, but I love the warmups he still has on on the Skybox card.
