The Story of the Autograph
Jimmy Sexton is a former infielder in the major leagues. He played in six seasons from 1977 to 1983 with the Seattle Mariners, Houston Astros, Oakland Athletics, and St. Louis Cardinals.
Sexton was born in Mobile, Alabama and signed as an amateur free agent by the Pirates in July of 1970. He spent the next several years in the Pirates minor league system but wouldn’t make his major league debut with them. Instead they traded him to the Mariners on December 7, 1976 along with Craig Reynolds for Grant Jackson. He debuted for the Mariners on September 2, 1977 and played in 14 games. After the season he was traded to the Astros for Leon Roberts.
He spent the next two seasons with the Astros, really getting his best shot in the majors. He played in 88 games in 1978 for the most he would play in a career with any team. But in 1980 he spent the entire season in the minors. The Astros would then trade him to the Athletics in February of 1981. He spent two seasons with the A’s before being released.
He got a shot with the White Sox but never made the majors and then played a few games with the Cardinals in 1983 before his last major league game on October 2, 1983. After spending 1984 in the Cardinals minor league system he called it a career.

Jimmy has a somewhat standard signature. It might be a little on the small side but the thick marker really helps put a good amount of ink on the card. The 1983 Topps that you see is the best of the two he signed although it did look a little like the marker was drying in his last name.
