The Story of the Autograph
Jim Winn is a former right-handed relief pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1983 to 1988 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins.
Winn was born in California and raised in Missouri. He went on to attend John Brown University in Arkansas. The Pirates then drafted him in the first round of the 1981 MLB Draft with the fourteenth overall pick. He would make his major league debut just two years later on April 10, 1983.
For the first two years of his career he was very lightly used and then he started appearing more in 1985. His best year in the majors was 1986 when he pitched in 50 games including three starts, put up a 3-5 record and a career low 3.58 ERA in 88 innings.
That would be his final year in Pittburgh though as he was traded to the White Sox for John Cangelosi before the end of Spring Training in the 1987 season. After one year in Chicago he was released at the end of Spring Training in 1988 and played his final games with Minnesota that same season.
The Score on Jim Winn – 5.5
There’s a couple of things going on with this return that make the score so low. A couple of the cards I sent to Jim are not great for an autograph. His cards are his cards and I can only send what I have. But there’s only so much he can do with that 1988 Fleer card for instance. But also the marker was really running out of steam.
Thanks Mr. Winn! I’m giving this return a 5.5. overall.
