The Story of the Autograph

In the world of Major League Baseball (MLB), where superstars often dominate the headlines, there are players like Jeff Reboulet who carve out a successful career through grit, versatility, and a deep love for the game. Reboulet’s journey in professional baseball is a testament to the importance of the role players who contribute in ways that often go unnoticed but are crucial to a team’s success. He is a former infielder who played in the majors from 1992 to 2003 with the Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Reboulet was born on April 30, 1964, in Dayton, Ohio. Growing up in a sports-oriented family, Reboulet developed a passion for baseball at a young age. He attended Archbishop Alter High School, where he excelled as an infielder. His talent on the field earned him a spot on the baseball team at Louisiana State University (LSU), a school known for its strong athletic programs.

At LSU, Reboulet honed his skills as a reliable infielder and a contact hitter. Despite not being a highly-touted prospect, his consistent performance caught the attention of MLB scouts. In 1986, Reboulet was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 10th round of the MLB Draft, beginning his professional career.

Reboulet made his MLB debut with the Minnesota Twins on May 12, 1992, at the age of 28. Although he was not a regular starter, Reboulet quickly became known for his versatility and defensive prowess. He played primarily as a middle infielder, capable of filling in at both shortstop and second base. His ability to provide solid defense, along with a reliable bat, made him a valuable asset to the Twins.

During his time with Minnesota, Reboulet was part of a team that was transitioning after its World Series victory in 1991. While he didn’t enjoy regular starting duties, Reboulet’s contributions off the bench were critical in providing depth to the Twins’ infield. He played with the Twins until 1996, appearing in 342 games and earning a reputation as a dependable and hardworking player.

After leaving the Twins, Reboulet continued his MLB career with several teams, each time bringing his trademark versatility and professionalism. He joined the Baltimore Orioles in 1997, where he played a significant role in one of the franchise’s most successful seasons in recent history. The Orioles won the American League East Division that year, and Reboulet’s ability to step in and perform whenever called upon was a key part of the team’s success.

Reboulet’s career with the Orioles lasted until 1999, during which he appeared in 315 games. His steady presence in the infield and his occasional clutch hitting endeared him to both teammates and fans. He was known for his team-first mentality, always ready to do whatever was needed to help the club win.

In the final years of his career, Reboulet played for the Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Pittsburgh Pirates. He continued to be a reliable utility infielder, providing veteran leadership and a steady glove. By the time he retired after the 2003 season, Reboulet had played in 1,018 MLB games, finishing with a career batting average of .240, 20 home runs, and 202 RBIs.

After hanging up his cleats, Jeff Reboulet transitioned into life after baseball with the same quiet determination that characterized his playing career. He has remained involved in the sport, particularly in youth baseball, where he shares his knowledge and love for the game with the next generation of players.

Reboulet’s post-baseball life has been largely out of the public eye, as he has focused on his family and community involvement. His story resonates with many who appreciate the value of hard work and dedication. While Reboulet may not have been a household name, his contributions on the field were respected by those who played alongside him and by fans who understood the importance of every player on a team.

I think in the vast majority of cases I am for someone signing with a thicker marker. In Jeff’s case, I think these would be perfect with a really thin marker. Don’t get me wrong, these are great, especially the 1993 Upper Deck card. I just think maybe you would see some more detail with a thin marker.

Thanks Mr. Reboulet! I’m giving this return a 7 overall.
