The Story of the Autograph
Guy Sularz is a former infielder in the major leagues. He played from 1980 to 1983 and spent his entire major league career in San Francisco with the Giants.
Sularz was born in Minnesota and went to high school in California (sounds like Brandon Walsh…). He was drafted out of high school by the Giants in the 10th round of the 1974 MLB Draft. After six years in the minors he made his major league debut on September 2, 1980. He appeared in 25 games in his first season but just ten in his second season.
1981 brought a little more success. He played in 63 games (60% of his career games) that season. He hit .228 with his only career homer, seven RBI and three stolen bases. He appeared him his last major league game on October 2, 1983. After his playing career was over he went on to be a firefighter in Phoenix, Arizona.
The Score on Guy Sularz – 7.0
There are two things I find pretty interesting about Guy’s signature. First, I love that “G”. I don’t think I remember someone signing with a capital “G” in that style. I also find it interesting that he includes his number. I usually think of that as something more recent players do. He seems to do it so carefully too.
Thanks Mr. Sularz! I’m giving this return a 7 overall.
