The Story of the Autograph
Greg Smith is a former middle infielder in the major leagues. He played with the Chicago Cubs in the 1989 and 1990 seasons and then with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1991 season.
Smith is a native of the Baltimore are in Maryland. He was drafted by the Cubs in the second round of the 1985 MLB Draft after high school. He spent several years in the minors leagues and made his major league debut on September 2, 1989. He never got much playing time in the majors and topped out at appearing in 18 games in 1990. He was traded to the Dodgers after the 1990 season for Jose Viscaino.
He played his final game on May 24, 1991 for the Dodgers. After being waived he would try to get back to the major but never did. He would become a scout for the Royals, Indians, and Rangers. He would later become an assistant to the general manager for the Rangers.
The Score on Greg Smith – 7.0
I love this signature from Greg. It’s a great example of a guy who didn’t play much having a signature that is a lot more exciting than his major league career as a whole. I think my favorite of this bunch is the 1991 Topps card because of the action on it.
Thanks Mr. Smith! I’m giving this return a 7.
