The Story of the Autograph
Glenn Abbott pitched in the majors from 1973 through 1984 with the Athletics, Mariners and Tigers. He was mostly used as a starting pitcher during his time in the league.
Abbott was drafted by the Athletics in 1969 in the eighth round of the draft. He made his major league debut on July 29, 1973. He started a little more than half the games he appeared in with Oakland and was part of a four-pitcher no-hitter in 1975 along with Vida Blue, Paul Lindblad and Rollie Fingers. Abbot pitched one inning, the sixth, to contribute to the cause.
He moved on to the Mariners in the 1976 expansion draft and spent the majority of his career in Seattle. He was the team leader in wins with 12 for two of those seasons. He was originally interested in going to Seattle to follow his pitching coach from Oakland, but he went from a successful team with the A’s to an expansion team and they weren’t very good. He moved on to the Tigers in 1983 and spent two seasons in Detroit before he was released in August of 1984. Just before the Tigers won the World Series that year.
The Score on Glenn Abbott – 6.0
Glenn has a pretty standard signature. He definitely doesn’t have a consistent way to sign. You can see that because none of these are on the same line and some have a little more gap between first and last name. In this case though it looks more to me like he still takes the time to sign because everything really comes out well and he used a great marker.
Thanks Mr. Abbott! I’m giving this return a 6..
