The Story of the Autograph

Duane Ferrell, nicknamed “Paco” since his college days, is a former forward in the NBA. He played from 1988 to 1999 with the Atlanta Hawks, Indiana Pacers, and Golden State Warriors.

Ferrell is a native of Maryland. He was part of a high school team that won the 1982 National Championship when he was a junior. He then went on to attend Georgia Tech where he was the 1985 ACC Rookie of the Year. He was also second-team All-ACC twice during his time with the Yellow Jackets. In 1988 he went undrafted and signed as a free agent with the Hawks.

He played a reserve role but spent six seasons with the Hawks, with a little stopover in the CBA too. He moved on to the Pacers as a free agent and then to the Warriors in a trade that sent he and Erick Dampier to Golden State for Chris Mullin.

After his playing days he worked for the Hawks and Wizards as the Player Relations and Programs Director. He also give back to the community through a basketball academy.

I think Duane has a great autograph under there, but unfortunately two of these cards don’t do him any favors. The 1994 Upper Deck card is the best and you get a good look at that cool looking “F” that he does. But the other cards are basically black.

Thanks Mr. Ferrell! I’m giving this return a 5.5.
