The Story of the Autograph
Doug Dascenzo is a former outfielder in the major leagues. He plaed for the Chicago Cubs from 1988 to 1992 and then a year each with the Texas Rangers (1992) and the San Diego Padres (1996).
Dascenzo was born in Cleveland, Ohio but grew up in Pennsylvania. He went on to attend Oklahoma State and was drafted by the Cubs in the 12th round of the 1985 MLB Draft. He made his debut for the Cubs on September 12, 1988. He was a great fielder and from 1988 through August of the 1991 season he didn’t commit an error. That was a then-NL record of 241 games without an error. His best season was probably 1991 when he played 118 games with a .255 batting average, one homer, 18 RBI and 14 stolen bases.
In the 1990 and 1991 seasons he made four pitching appearances (three of those in 1991. He pitched five innings total with a 3.25 ERA. You’ll see below he was actually picture as a pitcher on his 1991 Score card.
After his playing career ended he moved on to coaching. He started as a roving minor league instructor and then managed in the Padres organization. He later moved to the Braves organization and coached in the majors and then later for the Cubs.
The Score on Doug Dascenzo – 7.0
Doug has one of the prettiest signatures in the TTM game. Really the only thing holding back the score on this return overall are the cards. A couple of them are a bit dark. The best card that shows it off is the 1989 Fleer card. While he has a signature that seems like it would be quick to do, it seems like Doug puts a lot of care into signing the cards you send him and that’s always appreciated.
Thanks Mr. Dascenzo! I’m giving this a 7 overall.
