The Story of the Autograph
Donald Harris is a former outfielder in the major leagues. His short career in the majors lasted from 1991 to 1993 and he spent that entire time with the Texas Rangers.
Harris is a native of Waco, Texas. He went on to attend Texas Tech and play baseball for the Red Raiders. Keeping the Texas theme going, the Rangers drafted him with the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 1989 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut for them just two years later on September 4, 1991.
He was up and down to the major and minors his entire career. While his games played went up every year, he capped out at 40 in 1993. In limited time after that first September call-up he his .375 (in nine plate appearances). But in subsequent opportunities he couldn’t get above a .200 average. There just wasn’t much of a place for him on a team of some pretty good hitters at the time.
The Score on Donald Harris – 5.5
Donald appears just sign “Don” with his signature. I wonder if that’s maybe related to if he actually just goes by Don now. Or maybe he did all along and Topps just used Donald on his cards. It wouldn’t be the first time they changed up a name (or even used on name one year and another in another year.
Thanks Mr. Harris! I’m giving this return a 5.5.
