The Story of the Autograph
Don Maggs is a former offensive lineman in the USFL and NFL. He played from 1984 to 1994 with the Pittsburgh Maulers, New Jersey Generals, Houston Oilers, and Denver Broncos.
Maggs is from Youngstown, Ohio. He went to college at Tulane and was then drafted by the Houston Oilers in the 1984 NFL Supplemental Draft. He didn’t play with the Oilers right away though. Instead he went to play for the Pittsburgh Maulers in the USFL and the New Jersey Generals the year after that. He moved on to the Oilers as the USFL disbanded and Houston had his rights.
He played mostly at tackle in the NFL, but also played at guard as well. He wasn’t a full time starter until his third year in the league when in 1990 he started all sixteen games. He would start all but one or two games for the next three years before he moved on to Denver for his final to years. However, in Denver he only played in about half the games for the season.
The Score on Don Maggs – 7.0
Don puts a good amount of ink on your card. His name is short but he signs pretty big and adds his number in there as well. I think the best of these cards might be the 1991 Fleer card. I just like the pose on that one for an offensive lineman. It’s definitely not my favorite card design, but works for Don.
Thanks Mr. Maggs! I’m giving this return a 7.
