The Story of the Autograph
Don Hood is a former left-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1973 to 1983 and pitched for the Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, and Kansas City Royals.
Hood is a native of Florence, South Carolina. He was drafted out of high school with the 17th overall pick in the first round of the 1969 MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles. He made his major league debut four years later on July 16, 1973. He pitched for parts of two seasons before being traded to Cleveland where he spent the biggest chunk of his career.
He moved on to the Yankees in 1979 for Cliff Johnson. He spent half a season with the Yankees and then he moved on to St. Louis and Kansas City as a free agent to close out his career.
The Score on Don Hood – 5.5
Don has a pretty crazy signature. I think the personalization adds a little bit to that. But I love the way he puts those extra tweaks on the “D” and the “H” in both his first and last names. He did address these to “Bell.” I’ve gotten “Ben” a few times before but this is the first time I’ve been called “Bell.” These are the times when I think I should try to improve my writing, at least when I write my name.
Thanks Mr. Hood! I’m giving this return a 5.5.
