The Story of the Autograph
Dick Ambrose is a former linebacker in the National Football League. He played from 1975 to 1983 and spent his entire career with the Cleveland Browns.
Ambrose is a native of New Rochelle, New York. After going to Iona prep he went to the University of Virginia. He earned All-ACC first team honors as a junior and senior while playing for the Wahoos. After graduating he was drafted by the Browns in the twelfth round of the 1975 NFL Draft.
He was a middle linebacker during his years with the Browns. He started 10 games his first season and only two in his second, but after that he was a mainstay on the defense until injuries caught up to him in his later years. In 1980 he was part of the first Browns team to win a division since 1971, unfortunately they would lose in the playoffs to the Raiders. He was known as “Bam Bam” for being so physical a tackler.
He went to law school while still playing and graduated from Cleveland State University School of Law in 1987. He was a lawyer with big firms and more recently a judge.
The Score on Dick Ambrose – 7.0
I picked this card of Dick’s up at a card show from some cheap boxes. I could have sworn I had other cards of his from the early 80’s but I couldn’t find them. I’m guessing that maybe I don’t have duplicates of them. But I hope to find some other cards of his for another attempt in the future. Dick’s got a really nice signature and it came out pretty well on this card.
Thanks Mr. Ambrose! I’m giving this return a 7.
