The Story of the Autograph
Dave Meads is a former left-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played for just two seasons in 1987 and 1988 and spent both in Houston with the Astros.
Meads was born and raised in New Jersey. After graduating high school in 1981 he went on to attend Middlesex County College. The Astros drafted him in the sixth round of the 1984 MLB Draft. Three years later he made his major league debut on April 13, 1987.
He started that season in the minors but was called up very early. He earned his first victory 10 days into his career on April 23, 1987. He did that by striking out Ken Griffey, but if you are paying attention to the dates, that’s Senior. Meads would end up appearing in 45 games his first season, going 5-3 with a 5.55 ERA.
He was back in the minors to start 1988 and was called up again to go 3-1 in 22 games with a 3.18 ERA. He got two starts in those appearances as well. 1989 saw him in the minors again and unfortunately he got an arm injury that would cut short his career and he’d never appear in the majors again.
The Score on Dave Meads – 6.5
As you can see, Dave signs his name as David. I actually do that to. I tend to sign my name as William. I also list myself like that at work which can tend to confuse some people. Dave has a pretty solid signature and it came out pretty well on these.
Thanks Mr. Meads! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
