The Story of the Autograph
Dave Edwards is a former outfielder in the major leagues. He played from 1978 to 1982 with the Minnesota Twins and San Diego Padres.
Edwards was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. The Twins drafted him out of high school in the seventh round of the 1971 MLB Draft. After several years in the minors he made his major league debut on September 11th, 1978.
He played in only 15 games to close out that first season. After that he played around half a season in three out of his other four major league seasons. His best season was his second in Minnesota when he hit .249 with eight homers and 35 RBI, both career highs. After the 1980 season he was traded to the Padres for Chuck Baker. They would release him after the 1982 season and he wouldn’t play in another major league game.
Edwards has twin brothers, Mike and Marshall, both of whom played in the major leagues as well.
The Score on Dave Edwards – 7.0
There’s a lot going on in Dave’s signature. His “D” seems very spread out and almost comes off as an “M”. His “E” is very fancy with loops to start, to end, and in the middle. I think my favorite of this bunch is the 1983 Fleer card. Although he didn’t actually play in that season. I think I like it with the yellow Padres jersey.
Thanks Mr. Edwards! I’m giving this return a 7 overall.
