The Story of the Autograph
Dave Burba pitched in the majors from 1990 through 2004. He started as a mostly a right-handed reliever and ended as a mostly a right-handed reliever, but in the middle he wasn’t too bad of a starter. He pitched for the Mariners, Giants (twice), Reds, Indians (twice), Rangers, and Brewers.
Burba was drafted in the second round of the 1987 amateur draft by the Mariners. He made his MLB debut on September 8, 1990. He won 10 games twice in the beginning of his career with a 10-3 record in 1993 in San Francisco and then a 10-4 record between his time with the Giants and Reds in 1995 after being traded to Cincinnati. In bot of those seasons he only start five and nine games respectively.
He saved some of his best results for some pretty good Cleveland team in the late 90’s. In four years with the Indians between 1998 and 2001 he had a winning record each year and went 56-35 wit an ERA in the mid 4’s. His best years there were 1998 through 2000 when he went 15-10, 15-9 and then 16-6.
Burba has been working as a pitching coach in the minors since 2011.
The Score on Dave Burba – 8.0
Dave’s signature is great! He’s got some really great capital letters and he really looks like he takes care in signing. His signature comes off as really stylish. The best of the lot is the ’99 Topps card and I love that it’s from some of his best years professionally.
Thanks Mr. Burba! I’m giving this return an 8.
