The Story of the Autograph

Dana Barros is a former guard in the NBA. He played from 1989 through 2004 with the Seattle SuperSonics, Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics (twice) and Detroit Pistons.

Barros was born and raised in the Boston area in Massachusetts. He was a start player with Xaverian Brothers high school and then went on to play for Boston College. The SuperSonics drafted him in the 1989 NBA Draft with the 16th overall pick in the first round. In Seattle he started is career as the back up to Gary Payton.

He moved on to the 76ers via traded (first to the Hornets and then the 76ers). In his second season with the 76ers he had his best season to day. He played all 82 games averaging over 40 minutes a game. He scored 20.6 points per game with almost 8 assists and 2 steals per game. That earned him a trip to the NBA All-Star game, his only career appearance, and the NBA Most Improved Player award.

Barros moved on to his hometown Boston Celtics as a free agent in 1995. There he played with David Wesley, Dee Brown, Antoine Walker and Paul Pierce. He moved around after his time with the Celtics and ended up coming back in 2004 after being out of basketball and then retiring in 2004.

Dana has a great signature. I wish I had some better cards to show it off on. It’s big and he really fills up the card with that loopy, buggy signature. I think these actually look a bit better in-person. I will say that some of why they look good to me is that I love those old Sonics uniforms and colors.

Thanks Mr.Barros! I’m giving this return a 7.
