The Story of the Autograph
Craig Janney is a former center in the NHL. He played from 1987 to 1999 with the Boston Bruins, St. Louis Blues, San Jose Sharks, Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Islanders.
Janney is a native of Connecticut. He played for Boston College and was drafted thirteenth overall in the first round of the 1986 NHL Draft. He was then part of the 1988 U.S. Olympic Team that played in Calgary and would make his debut in the 1987-’88 season with Boston.
He was a regular in his second season. He set a career high in goals in his second to last season with the Bruins, netting 26 goals. He also had 66 assists and would have almost a career high in points with 92. The Bruins traded him with Stephane Quintal to the St. Louis Blues for Adam Oates. In his first full season with the Blues he would set a career high in points with 106.
He would move to the Vancouver Canucks, but due to a dispute with neither team being satisfied with the result, he was traded back to the Blues. That started a lot of moving around with different teams and only played two full seasons after that with Phoenix in 1996-’97 and 1997-’98. He played his final season witht he Islanders.
In 2004 he was honored with haveing “The Softest Hands in Hockey” by the NHL Alumni. Then in 2007 he coached the Lubbock Cotton Kings in the NHL but the team would disband after the season he completed.
The Score on Craig Janney – 6.5
Craig has a great signature, I just wish that hockey cards offered a better place for him to show it off. These are so busy and then when they aren’t, he had to deal with the black Bruins jerseys. There’s a really nice signature under there though.
Thanks Mr. Janney! I’m giving this a 6.5.
