The Story of the Autograph
Casey Candaele is a former infielder and outfielder in the major leagues. He played during nine seasons from 1986 to 1997. During that time he played for the Montreal Expos, Houston Astros and Cleveland Indians.
Candaele was born and rasied in Lompoc, California. He is the son and nephew of All-American Girls Professional Baseball League players. They are the only mother/son combination to play professional baseball. HE went on to attend the University of Arizona and was part of the Wildcats 1980 College World Series Championship team. The Expos signed him as an amateur free agent in August of 1982.
After several years in the minors he broke into the majors to make his debut on June 5, 1986. After 30 games in that first year he played 138 in his second and finished fourth in the Rookie of the Year voting. He was then traded to the Astros and ended up playing there for the majority of his career. He moved on to the Reds and Dodgers but never played in the majors with them. Then he closed out his career with the Indians.
After his playing days he moved on to coaching. He did that in the majors and then in the minors. Since 2017 he’s been with the Blue Jays organization and this year he’s managing the Buffalo Bisons, their AAA club.
The Score on Casey Candaele – 6.5
You don’t see a purple marker very often and Casey definitely used on here. I say that but when I first got this I did debate as to whether it was blue or purple. It would have been great if he was a former Rockie. He has standard signature and I hope to find some cards that the signature will be shown off a bit better on.
Thanks Mr. Candaele! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
