The Story of the Autograph
This is now the third card from the 1970 Topps set that I’ve gotten back recently. I’m likely the older flavor of those. It’s also the second card from that set with a team that doesn’t really exist anymore (well, they both turned into other teams I guess). Mr. Alyea spent the largest part of his career with the Senators and played the outfield. He actually hit a pinch hit home run off of Rudy May on the first pitch he saw in the majors. Not just his first at bat, but his first pitch – that’s some adrenaline right there.
The Score on Brent Alyea – 4
I am really not a fan of the ball point pen for signatures. I think it really works best on a baseball, but that might be it. That definitely drags down the score on this one. I think it could use the space better, but it’s definitely in a good spot on the card.
This is a 4 and that’s almost solely for the ball point pen.
